compassion

the analogy is made that, wherever a universal monarch goes, his retinue follows him. all the qualities of enlightenment follow upon compassion. who, then, would not aspire to arouse within himself compassion for beings, which is the source of all spiritual qualities? for him who has compassion, not suffering but boundless joys ensue.
